Cases of Interest: Denture Creams Can Cause Zinc
Toxicity
Many denture creams contain zinc. It has been
determined that zinc toxicity can cause severe neurological injuries

term use of certain denture creams.
Super Poligrip “Original,” “Ultra Fresh” and “Extra
Care” were mentioned in the alert.
GlaxoSmithKline claims that the products are
safe and that zinc toxicity is only experienced by consumers who use
excessive amounts of the products. However the manufacturer has
halted the making, distribution and advertising of its line of
denture cream products that contain zinc.
