Supplement Recall / Dietary Supplement Recall
The FDA announced a recall for a class of bodybuilding supplements
that illegally use estrogen-inhibiting drugs, which can cause liver
problems and aggressive behavior.
The following list of dietary supplements has
been recalled by the FDA:
-
Clomed by KiloSports, Inc
-
ArimaDex by Gentic Edge Technologies
-
Arom-X, Arom-X Utt, Arom-XL,
4-AD and Decavol by Advance Muscle Sciences
-
Off Cycle II Hardcore by Fizogen
Precision Technologies, Inc
-
Reversitol by iForce Nutrition, LLC
All of the products were marketed as “dietary
supplements,” which generally do not require the approval of the
FDA because they are not marketed to treat a disease and are not
supposed to contain controlled drugs.
However, all of the recalled dietary
supplements us aromatase inhibitors, which is a controlled by the
FDA. The FDA warned that the side effects of aromatase
inhibitors can include decreased bone growth, decreased sperm
production, infertility, aggressive behavior, adrenal
insufficiency, kidney failure and liver dysfunction.
People with liver, kidney, adrenal or prostrate
problems are at a higher risk of experiencing side effects of aromatase
inhibitors.
